Video Games and the Male Ego

So I moved from the Little House that Could, to the fancy upscale styling of the Catalina Tropics, in the K-Town. It sounds like it's terrible, along the lines of the St. Trope(z) Fine Luxury Living in Hollywood. It is however, a wonderful little oasis in the middle of LA I don't even feel like I'm in the city. The land lady is the crazy little break dancing woman. She looks like a mini Schneider with her tool belt. She's really small but crazy strong. There's a pool, which makes me very happy.
In any case, the point is the move went well, except for some small issues. Without going into too much detail , I've come to a theory about grown men and video games. I think that men, young men and medium aged men, use videos games to act out their secret fantasies that are fueled by their insecurities. Whether it is the flight commander, the WWII soldier all alone, or the manager of a major pro sports team, men need to act out these fantasies in order to have control. It's kinda like women who wear tight clothes an a lot of make up. I don't know. I'm just saying. It's interesting the games they choose to play and when they choose they play them. A weird way to exercise power over the unknown.
We'll see. But it's all wonderful now. The place is groovy I am very happy and FREEDOM WILL REIGN IN AMERICA!

The Last Night

So we spent our last night in the little house that could with Lisa Li. It was awesome. We ran around like crazy people dancing to Bon Jovi. I will miss Lisa LI so much. She's been around in my life for years now, but I being the crazy gypsy that I am would never keep in touch. She went out of her way to find me recently and saved my life. More recently, she literally saved my life on that terrible bad day. It's funny how some people just stick in your life through it all. And they aren't always the ones you think will.
In darker news, the Seniors organized a Senior ditch day on the anniversary on MLK's assassination. I'm sad about that. MLK wherever you are, we thank you.

The best macaroni in town, or BOUNCE BACK DAY!

So yesterday Mr. ATL and I bounced back from our previous two days of financial and spiritual hell and went to dinner at the J Lounge downtown. We had a lovely talk about the future, risotto, cooking, France, baseball, Kobe Bryant and everything under the sun. Life is good when you have someone to eat with and laugh with. And yes the J Bar and Lounge for all its grandiosity , has the best damn macaroni in town. Damn it was good.

So yes, I am totally overwhelmed, like unable to breathe because I'm crying so much overwhelmed. I miss my life. I hate moving, but Hassan's comment to my previous post just made my day. Bad things come in waves, I've just been in a storm for years now. Or I did some really crappy shit in another life(along the lines of, THESE ARE FOR YOU!. Anyway, looking forward, I will be moved in on Saturday and all will be well. And the kids will learn, even if I have to beat them.
But hurry home Hassan because we can't have a house warming party without you! But you can't bring the dog.

Now...

My third period students are trying to do an April Fool's joke on me, but I heard them plannin so I'm ignoring them and they are getting very annoyed with me. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Letter From An LA Jail

So my students have to read Letter from a Birmingham Jail and write a synthesis essay about the great Western thinkers and how they influenced Dr. King. I hand out the reading and from a class full of AFRICAN AMERICAN 18 year-olds, the first response I get is," Damn this is too much to read!"
There are days when my sadness is so great. . .How does one combat this?
Argh, My people my people.
Peace out.
