A Plague on BOTH your houses.

So Little Nettie has traveled to the South (well San diego, really), and it seems we have hall gotten sick since she left. Man oh man, weird. I also think that perhaps I am in the post stress letdown, wherein you are tired an sick and all the other thing syou have not been letting your body feel for months.
But, I will contiue to Blog. Hooray. I am glad my sickness can stop me from thinking about the danger in far off lands that terrifys me.

The Community

The Kid called to say Happy Daddy Day to Mr. ATL. He loved it. I am so deliciously happy pals. Things are good. Weird thing though-I had a dream in which my brother called me fat and we were all doing a morality experiment in space. What does it mean?
So the Tropics are kicking today with everyone out side and New Orleans Mike grilling. Kids are in the pool, people laughing, Sinatra playing and all sorts of fun stuff. The Commuinty is in the making.

Happy Daddy Day!

That's all I got! Thanks Pops.

Horses. . .WHAT?

So one of the many wonderful things that have occurred in the recent past is that I, wait for it, went on a horse!? ME! Yes indeed, the LPC went right on in her cowgirl boots, and not so gracefully, mounted a horse, and actually rode it. My baby girls were laughing at me the whole time, but hey I would have laughed at my mom. If fact, I still do. They predicted that I would scream the whole time, which of course I wanted to, but didn't just to spite them. Point being this happened on Tuesday, it is now Saturday morning and I still feel as if a, baseball-bat wielding clown has beaten me up. I can't even walk! Who knew? I now have the utmost respect for those people that ride horses in the Rose Parade, movies, on the beach, and of course my little Nettie who has been riding horses forever.

Now to fill you in: The past few months have been insane. Craziness at work. Craziness in the world. We lost a friend and a mother. In it all as, The Kid likes to say, we found a silver lining. Magically and most unexpectedly, I have sort of adopted three girls. So without gaining any weight, or going through teething, Mr. ATL and I have a new little family. Lucky for us, they are all going to college (whew!) in September. These young ladies are the ones that gave me a box on love on birthday, who made sure I stayed home and didn't lift anything after my surgery, who brought me coffee when I was running late, who called me in tears when they were lost, confused or angry. All of a sudden, I am a mom. It's very exhausting with all the driving, but totally worth it. I never knew how much I needed my Baby Girls until this past month. I am no longer afraid to embrace the role of Mother, to let go of myself, and to let people make fun of me for being old.
All of this leads to a very happy vibe in the LPC-ATL household. These Baby Girls made us want to be parents. Lives are changing people.
Now if I can only stop all these damn bad habits.
Until next time . . .
Oh yeah and really the best part of life is that Mama bought me an espresso maker. Who does that?

Songs of love . . .

are silly songs you sing to your daughter the day before she goes to camp, songs you sing to Mr. ATL when he makes you breakfast and dinner, songs you sing with your mommy when you're in the car and she listens patiently to you, and songs you made up with your brothers years ago and still call each other and sing.
Songs of love will get me through my summer.

I'M BACK!

Through the mysteries of Blogger I am now able to get into my account. Hooray. Well welcome! so much has happened and I am so tired that I can't think. So you'll have to wait.
Peace out.

THE LONGEST DAY EVER!

For some reason today lasted for about two weeks. Weird. I wasn't the only one that felt it. However, some good things happened or are happening. My seniors, despite their complaints are working diligently on their paper and seem to have a renewed faith in me, and in education in general. My Juniors, are also getting it together. It's funny because I can see the juniors trying to become my "special" kids for next year. They are fighting to be Ms. LPC's girls. It feels a little too much like The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie for my tastes but whatever. In any case, I'm glad they want to learn. School has really taken on a positive vibe as of late. I'm excited about next year. I am finally feeling a sense of belonging.
In other news, we are having tons of fun in the new place. We, well I rediscovered the joy that is the HMS BOUNTY! Yesterday we watched the final four with our friend Memphis Brent, who was really very disappointed in his teams loss. We had a great time and met a bunch of locals, who are absolutely crazy/smart/bizarre and all of these wonderful things. So we are glad to be here. I don't miss The Little House that Could at all, although I do miss Lisa Li. Things are good. Maybe this is the year that things will actually turn around.
