So just finished the first day of school after Spring Break and my my my, what a week it was for my kids. Apparently there was some very "disturbing" behavior on the Senior Cruise, sex, drugs, cheating, underage drinking and a whole bunch of near deaths from alcohol poisoning. OY!
It is nice to be back at work though. I've missed my students. Anyway, all around school is still insane and I hate all things digital as in Facebook and MySpace because they cause all sorts of problems. Some kids put videos of other drunken kids on Facebook and well you can imagine what is going on . . .
Anyway . . .back to work!
See you later!

OH MY. . .
It's back babies! That's right BASEBALL SEASON!
Tomorrow is opening day of the Dodgers, we're celebrating 50 years in LA, playing the Giants. So to quote Bull Durham, I can finally get back to "worshipping the Church of Baseball"

Home or something like it.
So I just returned home from the conference in North Carolina to find that all my books were packed up and there were boxes that gave birth to boxes and that somehow it seems like I'm still not packed. argh. So I am once again in the nether region of moving where I don't actually belong anywhere. Except here on my couch ignoring the boxes and watching the Godfather, while catching up on family blogs.
The conference, however, was incredible! I learned a great deal and thought and thought and thought. It was great. Conferences like this are essentially intellectual masturbation, but you don't get that often after you leave college. I felt wonderful and reinvirgorated. I remember why I want to teach: for no other reason than to ensure our democracy. Oh I could go on and on forever, but I'll spare you. Suffice to say, Democracy ROCKS! And my new favorite saying is: “THINK! IT'S PATRIOTIC." Isn't that awesome?
So back to the fam: poor BB is in Sweden and sick, and I miss his whining. He's crap at being sick. Mr. Moose is only calling me these days to ask for my social security number and address and who knows where Number Three is. . . Anyway, I'm jealous of Mama since she gets to talk to Daddy and the dog everyday and I get to talk to my boxes. WAAAAAAAAAAAA!
In other news, I met Mr. ATL's sister and family yesterday. It was lovely. They were wonderful. It was great because I didn't feel like I had to perform or anything I just was myself and we all got along swimmingly! PLUS they have a baby named Desmond who is 18 months and I got to hang out with him all day! Bliss, pure bliss. We took them to CJ's on Pico because they wanted a "Mexican" Breakfast, which apparently doesn't exist in D.C. Then we went to Venice beach and ran around like crazy people in the freezing cold waves. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, fun, and family. I left the beach smelling of baby and salt water and for the first time in a month I felt truly filled up with love.
Mr. ATL and I know we're not ready for a family, but it was fun to pretend even for an afternoon. The future is bright my friends.

Where's my dollar? or Boxes of Boys.
So Mama said she would give me a dollar if I wrote a post , and being a teacher, I need it. So here it is. I'm on spring break and the last couple of days have been a packing filled frenzy since I'm moving on the April 5th. I bet my roommate that I wouldn't freak out while packing so I've been channeling all of my anger into other things like, the Lakers, the weather changing, and you know anything that's not packing. I've been cleansing as I pack though which is good. I decided I wanted a house with no exes in it, so I got rid of a lot of stuff. Boxes of boys. I feel good though, I never throw away pictures, but I thought now is as good a time as any to start. Why carry around bad heartbreaking memories AND pictures of said memories?
In lighter news, I'm on way to Chapel Hill for a conference on Socratic Seminars(I AM OFFICIALLY A SUPER DORK!). It is a two-day seminar on government and the Declaration of Independence. Very cool, although I am forever going to picture John Adams as Paul Giamatti but hey. . .
Well that's it my lovelies, enjoy the weather (damn weather always changing!).

Crappy Poetry in lieu of a post
There was a baby
Now it is gone
There was a leader
now she's gone
There is a job
a me to do it
Students who need to learn
and a teacher who can teach them
There is a man
and he is still here
There is a family
and they are still here
There was a friend
but now she is gone
There is however another friend
and another
and another
There was a yesterday
There is a today
There was time off
there is a paper to write
Now it is gone
There was a leader
now she's gone
There is a job
a me to do it
Students who need to learn
and a teacher who can teach them
There is a man
and he is still here
There is a family
and they are still here
There was a friend
but now she is gone
There is however another friend
and another
and another
There was a yesterday
There is a today
There was time off
there is a paper to write

Unattended
Yes it is true. I have been remiss. I will however not start again because BB is in Sweden and needs something to do. . .
In other news, Palm Springs was wonderful. I am still sad and searching for something to fill me up.

Home! (and back to crap)
So we ring in the new year thinking things will be different. We are filled with hope and recharged, only to come home, open the mail, and discover we owe a ton of money, and our driver’s license has been suspended. ack! So we "beat on boats against the current borne ceaselessly into the past."
